Brian Faulkner can help you win more Emmy®Awards.

Emmys® are awarded because viewers love your piece. Segments with that special Emmy® spark please not only the people who watch your PBS member station but also the peers who judge your entries.

Brian Faulkner's storytelling style has helped PBS North Carolina (UNC-TV) win multiple regional Emmy
® awards for its richly produced, highly-rated Our State magazine series. He can do the same for you.
WHALEHEAD CLUB: A favorite segment: the story of an art nouveau-styled coastal estate and the tragic couple who created it. The challenge here was to tell a compelling human story while also capturing the zeitgeist of wealthy turn-of-the century America.
LIGHTER THAN AIR: An artfully crafted short doc about how Navy blimps helped beat back Nazi U-boats off the Carolina Coast during WWII. The challenge was to show both the immensity of the task and the immensity of the hangars that housed the dirigibles.
PLAYING BY HEART: A story of love, family and a passion for song as told by the not-so-famous father of the famous Avett Brothers. The challenge was to tell Jim Avett's story (and the family's story) while using a minimum of Avett Brothers concert footage.

THE CAN JOE MAN: How a retired NC businessman found joy crafting single-string musical instruments from soda cans. Challenge was to transform what could have been a boring feature into a little jewel of a piece. Good writing and thoughtful narration helped it happen!
IVEY HAYES PAINTS: Nobody paints like Ivey Hayes, and nobody has a story like his. Creative challenge was to knit an interview with the artist and Fred Story's memorable music together with writing and narration to create what turned out to be a work of television art.
A DEFIANT SPIRIT:  Tim Ferris leads a life of adventure, from salvage diving on shipwrecks to distilling whisky in his uniquely "defiant" way. The challenge was deciding which of Tim's many lives to include -- with very limited B-roll. The script eventually brought it all together.
